Columbia, SC (WLTX) - One of the fastest high school track stars in America has decided to stay close to home for college.
Dreher High School's Brandon Sanders signed Wednesday morning with the USC Gamecocks.
He becomes part of Coach Curtis Frye's successful stable of athletes.
"This is where I grew up, this is home for me," Sanders told News19 after he signed.
Sanders was the state champion in the 100 and 200 meter dash, and has been a top competitor in relays. In 2008, he broke the Youth Boys National 100 meter record with a time of 10.94, and is the only South Carolinian who has represented the U.S. in the Youth Olympics.
