BUTTE, Mont. (AP) -- Montana Tech athletics director Joe McClafferty says Brian Solomon is the new women's volleyball coach at the NAIA school in Butte.
Solomon comes to Tech after five seasons of coaching at Columbia College, an NAIA school in Columbia, S.C. His teams posted more than 20 wins in 2009 and 2011. In 2009, Solomon was named the Southern States Athletic Conference coach of the year.
Before Solomon was a coach, he was a setter at Hope International in southern California. Hope was ranked in the top 10 for three seasons while Solomon played and won NAIA national championships in 2002 and 2003.
McClafferty says Solomon is an energetic, technical, competitive coach who believes college athletes are students first.
