Pit Bulls Stolen from Columbia Animal Shelter
Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia police have made several arrests in connection with recent theft of pit bulls at the Columbia Animal Shelter.
Police say a 17-year-old and a juvenile have been taken into custody. Officers say they also are looking for another juvenile and a 25-year-old.
More details on the suspects are expected at a news conference set for 2 p.m. Monday.
Over the last three weeks, police say suspects have broken into the animal shelter three separate times and taken animals. The most recent incident took place just before 9 p.m on Saturday.
Surveillance images were released of the most recent crime.
A similar incident occurred back on January 30th, and then again on February 5th. In total, police say there have been sixteen pit bulls stolen, including a pregnant one.
