BJ McKie is the all-time leading scorer for USC basketball
Charleston, SC (WLTX) --- USC's all-time leading scorer is feeling almost like a freshman again.
BJ McKie, whose accomplishments led his USC number being retired and a successful pro career overseas, is in his first year as an assistant coach on the college level.
The Irmo grad is working under Charleston Southern head coach Barclay Radebaugh who is a former USC assistant under Eddie Fogler during McKie's tenure.
McKie says he has learned a lot in his rookie season and continues to soak up as much knowledge as he can. McKie says playing for Tim Whipple at Irmo and Fogler at USC has helped to craft his coaching style which he says is a combination of the head coaches who have influenced him over the years.
While the Big South Conference does not command the national stage like the SEC or ACC, McKie says he has no regrets starting his coaching career in the Lowcountry because of his relationship to Radebaugh.
