Anderson County, SC (WSPA) - An Upstate mother is facing charges after police say maggots were found in her child's diaper.
Michelle Butler, 20, is charged with unlawful neglect of a child.
WSPA-TV reports that Honea Path police were called to the AnMed emergency room with an illness. When nurses took off the child's diaper, they reported to officers that maggots were inside.
Hospital staff also told officers the infant's urine tested positive for marijuana.
Investigators said when they went to Butler's home later, it was dirty.
