Richland County, SC (WLTX) - Richland County deputies say one of their officers shot a suspect after the officer was shot at first Thursday night.
Deputies say just after 6 p.m., narcotics officers attempted to serve a warrant in the 700 block of Broad River Road at the Brook Pines Apartments.
When they went inside, officers say 25-year-old Fredrick Withers II fired at them. In response, deputies returned fire and Withers was shot in the lower body.
Withers was taken to the hospital. Deputies say after he recovers, he will face multiple charges.
As it always does when there is an officer-involved shooting, the State Law Enforcement Division will investigate.
