Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The grandmother of Amir Jennings has spoken out about the disappearance of the Columbia toddler.

"We are wondering if she sold him, if she gave him away, if she was threatened and he was taken from her, we don't know," said Jocelyn Jennings.

Shocking words from Jennings as she tries to fight back her tears. After more than month of silence, Thursday she spoke candidly about her daughter and grandson.

"I don't know what happened in my daughters life that broke her spirit," said Jennings.

Overwhelmed with grief, Jennings told the crowd Zinah was her only child and Amir her only grandson. She says she's unsure why Zinah isn't helping police.

"I don't know why she is not willing to share and don't even know if she can share where Amir is."

Members in the community gathered at a vigil to pray with the Jennings family, Lorine Boykin says she is putting her trust in God that he will bring Amir home safe.

"We walk by faith and not by sight and God never left us nor has he forsaken us and we have to stand on the promises that he has given us through his word," said Boykin.

More than 100 people filled the church to give the Jennings family a shoulder to lean on.

"We stay and we stand to encourage sister Jocelyn."

Jennings believes that their prayers will be answered.

"I believe that in my heart that he is alive and I pray that  he is receiving the things that he needs," said Jennings.
