Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touchdown along the Aiken/Lexington County line. Meanwhile, law enforcement in Sumter County says a twister struck there as well.

The Aiken/Lexington tornado spawned around 1:07 p.m. near the intersection of Sand Dam and Cline Taylors Roads in Aiken County. That area is about five miles north of the town of Wagener.

National Weather Service surveyors confirmed that the storm was an EF2 on the Enhanced Fujita scale, which measures tornado intensity. Winds were estimated at 130 miles an hour, and the width of the storm was estimated at 100 yards.

The tornado then moved east-northeast into Lexington County near the intersection of Greens Bridge and Charles Town Roads, which is toward Pelion.

A mobile home was destroyed off of Big Branch Road, and a two story home off Sand Dam road had considerable damage.

There were no injuries.

Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis says a tornado touched down in the Pinewood Community. The tornado appears to have moved along a stretch from Sparkleberry Landing near Lake Marion to West Avenue, touching down intermittently.

The weather service says the storm was an EF0, the weakest rating, with winds estimated at 80 miles an hour.

Dennis says there were some down trees, but no damage to homes or businesses.
