Pelion, SC (WLTX) - While many in the Midlands experienced flooding and severe weather Friday, one family in Pelion lost part of their home.

Anne Senn and her husband Doug were watching TV when the unexpected uprooted part of their home.

"You never expect anything like this you know?" Asked, Senn. "I came out of my bedroom and when I came in here I was like oh my gosh what happened?"

The room where four generations of family spend Christmas and Thanksgiving, destroyed.

"I was upset. It was kind of scary because I didn't know what happened," said Senn.

Around 1:00pm a tornado touched down near the back of the home, snapping tree's and throwing debris, scattering the Senn's possessions all over their front yard.

"This here is a 2x4 that just shot in the ground," daughter in law Jerri Senn was hiding in the basement with her husband Chip in their home just feet away.

"When I looked out that window and things were flying off our top deck like grills, chairs, whatever, I knew this is serious," said Senn.

From the unexpected to now, understanding, the Senn's say they're thankful it was only material items they'll have to replace.

"It is upsetting but there's not a thing we can do but just go forth," said Senn.

While they wait for their insurance to rebuild the Senn family says they will be staying with other family members up the road.
