Foxborough, MA (Sports Network) - The New England Revolution picked Lee Nguyen in the MLS Waiver Draft on Friday and the former United States midfielder will be added to the roster upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.

The 25-year-old Nguyen played three matches for the United States in 2007, and will make his MLS debut this season. Vancouver Whitecaps FC had signed Nguyen in December, but waived him Thursday.

"Lee gives us added versatility in the attack," New England General Manager Michael Burns said. "He is an effective player on either wing or up top, and he has great potential in MLS."

Nguyen started his club career with PSV Eindhoven, but played just one fixture for the club. He also played for Danish side Randers and was in the Vietnamese V-League with Hoang Anh Gia and Becamex Binh Duong FC in the last few years.

Per league and club policies, further contract details were not released.

New England opens the 2012 season at the San Jose Earthquakes on March 10.
