A makeshift memorial was set up outside the Lantana Apartment Complex in Sumter. Robert Jackson, 11, and Alayiah Jackson, 10, died in a fire at the residences.
Sumter, SC (WLTX) - The family of two children killed in an apartment fire in Sumter last week have set up a fund to pay for funeral services.
Robert Jackson, 11, and his 10-year-old sister Alayiah were inside a unit at the Lantana Apartment Complex on March 26 when the place caught on fire.
The two were taken for medical treatment, but died days later. Police have said they believe the fire was intentionally set.
Funeral services for the children will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter. A community memorial service is scheduled at the Lantana Apartment Complex.
If you would like to help the family with funeral expenses, there's been an account set up at the All South Federal Credit Union in the name of Elaine E. Young, who is a relative.
