Foxboro, MA (Sports Network) - The New England Patriots have signed linebacker Bobby Carpenter.

Carpenter has played in 89 NFL games (10 starts) with Dallas (2006-09), Miami (2010) and Detroit (2010-11), posting 165 tackles, one interception, 3 1/2 sacks, five passes defensed and one fumble recovery.

The Ohio State product was originally drafted by the Cowboys in the first round (18th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft.
