Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- A Columbia mother and son were killed in an I-20 accident in Lexington County Sunday.
The victims are 25-year-old Tony Hill, known as Lamar, and his mother, 42-year-old Tanya Dash, both of Columbia.
Officials at Bible Way Church of Atlas Road say the pair was headed to Hill's church where he was newly appointed pastor.
Church leaders say Dash was the children's choir director there.
They say Hill played the organ at Bible Way was supposed to be installed as pastor at Darian Baptist Church over the weekend.
"They trusted God and also to remember that they were so pleased with where they were at that moment of where they were going to at that moment. I think it was just he ultimate gift for Tanya to see her son to be a pastor and for Lamar to finally say I got a chance to pastor a church that I desired to pastor," said Associate Pastor Mack Jackson.
They pair died at about 10:45 yesterday morning after the car they were riding in lost control flipped and ejected both of them.
"We're gonna have some moments where it's gonna be tough for us but I think we still have the hope that if we're believers we'll see them again one day," said Jackson of how the church will move on. He says Dash and Hill would want other to lean on their faith in God.
He says funeral arrangements have not been completed at this time.
