Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The Richland County Sheriff's Department has removed a grenade that was found in the 100 block of Silver Lake Road East, which is just off Polo Road.
Investigators say a woman called 911 after she found the grenade Monday morning.
The bomb squad was called in to evaluate the situation and determine if it was in fact a live grenade or if it was a dummy. Shortly after noon, they removed the device.
Officers later said they detonated the grenade and a mortar round found at the location.
