Lexington, SC (WLTX) Chad Allen Smith, 18 of Gilbert, SC was killed in a single-vehicle accident which occurred early Sunday morning.
According to Lexington Coroner Harry O. Harman, Mr. Smith was traveling eastbound on Juniper Springs Road when he lost control of his 2001 Mustang and went to the right side of the road. He then overcorrected and went off the left side of the road, striking a pine tree.
Mr. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene from the injuries he received in the accident. An autopsy will be performed today to determine the cause of death.
The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner's Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
