Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- The news Tuesday evening that Columbia City Council had approved the sale of the property surrounding Capital City Stadium means the Columbia Blowfish have an uncertain future.

The Blowfish have scheduled a Thursday news conference to discuss the future of the team which has been in existence since 2006. The team competes in the Coastal Plain League and features college players using wooden bats.

Before the Blowfish came on the scene, the Capital City Bombers occupied the stadium, giving the Midlands its own minor league team. However, that team moved to Greenville at the beginning of 2005.

Now, the Blowfish will be known as the last team to compete at Capital City Stadium.
