Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia firefighters say a large apartment fire Sunday night was caused by unattended cooking.
The fire began just before 7 p.m. at the Hampton Park Apartments on Blossom Street off Beltine Boulevard.
The blaze was in building C at the complex. In all, 13 people were displaced, and eight apartments were damaged. One firefighter had to be treated for heat exhaustion.
The damage estimate for the fire is $270,000.
