Columbia, SC (WLTX)- A small bar on Rosewood is gaining some unwanted attention from a major corporation.

James Phillips, the owner of The Rolling Stone Bar, received a letter from Rolling Stones corporate attorney Tuesday.

The letter cites The Rolling Stone Bar's name is "infringing on the famous trademark owned and registered by Rolling Stone" and calls it "blatant copying" and demands he removes the name from the bar.

"I think the concern is the brand...that there would be any confusion between the magazine and its location. I don't believe there would be any confusion," Phillips said.

Phillips' lawyer, Dan Boles, says they plan to fight back.

"This is classic playground mentality. We are small and they are big, but we will not be bullied."

Phillips says the name has nothing to do with the magazine.

"I thought the concept of the rolling stone was interesting because the idea of a rolling stone character... There are other things that have influenced the decision but none of them have anything to do with the magazine or the band," Phillips said.

The letter from Rolling Stone ended by saying if the name is not removed they will take formal action to protect their interests.
