MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) -- First responders from four states are scheduled to take part in a rescue competition aboard the USS Yorktown in Charleston Harbor.
The International Rescue and Emergency Care Association is sponsoring the competition that begins Thursday and continues Friday aboard the carrier at the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum. The event includes 49 first responders from South Carolina, California, Texas and Louisiana.
During the competition, teams have to solve rescue scenarios using rope rescue and emergency medical skills.
The association was founded in 1948 and provides educational programs for emergency responders worldwide.
