(WLTX) - Former USC quarterback Stephen Garcia will get to continue his football carer, this time in the Canadian Football League.

The Montreal Alouettes announced its Twitter and Facebook pages that they had added Garcia to their roster.

During his time in Columbia, Garcia passed for 7,597 passing yards, with 47 touchdowns and 41 interceptions. He became the third quarterback in school history to throw for more than 7,500 yards in a career, and also ranks third on the all-time charts in pass attempts, pass completions and passing touchdowns. He posted a 20-14 record as a starting quarterback.

Garcia was dismissed in October of 2011 for a violation of team rules. He then moved back home to Tampa, Florida, where he began training for a pro career.

In late March, he returned to Columbia to participate in USC's NFL Pro Timing Day. At the time, he said he'd changed his diet and habits, and had dropped his weight from 245 pounds to 218.
