Cayce, SC (WLTX) - Water restrictions have been put in effect in Cayce, after the city stopped drawing water from the Congaree River.
The city has been fighting a fire at the World Wide Recycling Plant since Friday morning. Some of the runoff from that has reached the Congaree River
City leaders say they stopped drawing water because runoff from fire water and foam had reached the Congaree.
The city has opened interconnection with West Columbia's water system, which will supply water to Cayce customers. However, to make sure there's enough water for everyone, restrictions are in place.
Cayce water customers are asked to refrain from use of city water for any outside use, including yard watering (irrigation) and vehicle washing.
