This tree fell on Gervais Street in Columbia on July 1, 2012.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Thunderstorms, complete with lightning and hail, swept across the Midlands around 4pm Sunday.

The city of Columbia closed Whaley and Assembly Streets because of flooding.

Marble to golfball size hail littered lawns from Red Bank to Camden and every place in between.

Trees were blown down on Lake Murray Boulevard and Gervais Street in the Vista.

The storms knocked out power to over 3,000 residents in Lexington County and almost 5,000 residents in Richland County.   If you need to report a power outage or see downed or sparking power lines you can call SCEG at 1-888-333-4465.
