Cayce, SC (WLTX) - Crews have begun tearing down any remaining structures at a recycling plant in Cayce that was destroyed by fire.

Bulldozers were out Monday morning piling up the debris at the World Wide Recycling plant.

The fire began around 9 a.m. Friday, quickly engulfing the structure in flames. Heavy smoke billowed out, and could be seen for miles away.

The burning plastics inside the plant provided ample fuel to keep burning until Sunday morning.

No injuries were reported from the fire itself, but two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion.

Hepaco, a company from Charlotte, has been outsourced to help clean up toxic elements from runoff. A concern about possible contamination into the Congaree River led Cayce officials to stop pumping water from that water source. The city is now tapping into West Columbia's supply, and because of this move, restrictions on outdoor water usage were put in place for Cayce residents.
