Sumter, SC (WLTX) - Sumter County deputies are investigating a case of a 4-year-old who accidentally shot himself.
The incident took place around 11 a.m. Monday at a home on Rangler Trail.
Deputies say the boy found a .357 revolver somewhere in a bedroom in the house, and the loaded gun went off. The bullet traveled through the lower part of the boy's right leg,
A juvenile cousin home at the time of the shooting called 911, and the boy was taken to Palmetto Richland for treatment.
According to officers, the boy is fine, but will require surgery.
No charges have currently been filed.
