Gov. Nikki Haley speaks on June 28, 2012.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Gov. Nikki Haley is getting ready to explain what she wants out of South Carolina's budget.
Haley scheduled a news conference for Friday afternoon to explain what she vetoed from the state's $6.7 billion spending plan passed last week.
The Legislature passed the budget just two days before the end of the fiscal year. Haley had a week to issue her vetoes, but lawmakers also passed a special resolution to keep the government operating before the spending plan is finalized.
Legislators will return to Columbia later to consider overriding her vetoes.
Haley had until midnight Thursday to issue the vetoes, and she took almost the whole time.
