Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Aiken County Sheriff's Deputies arrested two men early Saturday morning after the suspects robbed two convenience stores.
Authorities say twenty-one year old Carl Donte Johnson of Aiken and eighteen-year old Brandon Marsalis Wilson of Aiken, robbed the Kangaroo Express on 702 Silver Bluff Road around 2:47am Saturday morning. An hour later the men robbed another Kangaroo Express at 3540 Richland Avenue West.
After the second armed robbery was reported, an Aiken Deputy spotted the suspect's vehicle, a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser, travelling southbound on Hitchcock Parkway.
Aiken Public Safety Officers tried to stop the vehicle but the suspects fled south on Silver Bluff Road. The two men continued on SC-HWY 125 into the town limits of Jackson, SC.
Authorities say during the chase, Johnson, the driver of the vehicle, crashed into the Savannah River Site barricade outside of Jackson.
After the crash, the suspects sped off again towards the Savannah River Site. Aiken County Sheriff's Deputies and Aiken County Public Safety Officers chased the suspect's car until Johnson stopped the vehicle and fled on foot.
Officials say Wilson remained in the vehicle. Wilson was arrested and taken into custody.
According to Public Saftey Officers, Johnson was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit.
Both suspects will be charged with two counts of armed robbery and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Johnson is also being charged with failure to stop for blue lights and sirens.
Both men are being held at the Aiken County Detention Center.
