Simpsonville Man Airflifted to Hospital after Motorcyle Accident

Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- According to SC Highway Patrol, a man riding a motorcycle had to be airlifted to the hospital after he ran into the back of an SUV around 11:35am Saturday morning.

Trooper Jones says the accident occurred on I-26 East near mile marker 88 in Lexington.

According to officials, 49-year old Jennifer Britaniski of Spartanburg was driving her 2009 GMC SUV when she slowed for traffic.

Jones says 49-year old John Helms of Simpsonville did not slow down with the traffic and ran into the back of the SUV. He was not wearing a helmet. Helms was airlifted to Palmetto Richland hospital with serious injuries.

Britaniski was wearing a seatbelt and had no injuries. Trooper Jones says the passenger in the SUV had no injuries as well.

Helms is charged with driving to fast for conditions.
