Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Lexington County Sherrif James R. Metts says a former Amazon employee turned himself in Thursday on  grand larceny charges after two arrest warrants were issued.

Metts says Lexington detectives, in cooperation with Amazon.com and FedEx Freight, arrested 20-year-old Todd Anthony Cofield Jr. for stealing 726 Apple iPod touch portable music players and 49 Hewlett Packard mini laptop computers worth a combined total of about $160,000.

Officials say that on multiple occassions Cofield stole the items from freight trailers that were parked at an Amazon distribution center on 12th St. Extension near Cayce.

Metts says Cofield submitted false documents to Amazon indicating that he unloaded all the electronics.

Cofield was released from the Lexington County Detention Center on Friday after posting bail for $50,000.
