Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- In a release Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of two men suspected of being internet predators.

The Anderson police department recently arrested 44 year old Rodney Gardner of Inman, and 45 year old Brian Hewitt of Spartanburg, in unrelated investigations. 

Both have been charged with one count of criminal solicitation of a minor: felony, up to 10 years imprisonment, and one count of attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor: felony, up to 20 years imprisonment. 

Both arrests resulted after they used an internet website ad to solicit sex from an individual they believed to be a minor. 

The warrants allege both suspects engaged in conversations sexual in nature prior to making arrangements and traveling to meet an individual they believed to be a minor child. 

Following arrest, both are out of custody on surety bonds and awaiting trial.

Gardner and Hewitt's cases will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.
