Sumter, SC (WLTX) -- The SC Highway Patrol says trooper L/Cpl. Robert M. Falls is hospitalized, in stable condition after an car accident in Sumter County. The crash happened just after midnight while Falls was responding to a call to assist the Sumter County Sheriff's Office.
Department of Public Safety Director Leroy Smith released a statement saying, "The SCDPS Team is thinking of the Falls family at this time. We will be here to support his family throughout his period of recovery."
The Sumter County Sheriff's Office is investigating the collision that injured the trooper. Few details have been released at this time.
L/Cpl. Falls has been with the Highway Patrol since 1991.
