Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Officials from South Carolina Highway Patrol say a passenger in a vehicle that overturned on US 15 in Darlington County died Friday afternoon.
Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee says the victim is 59-year-old Phillip Taylor Jr. of Sumter.
According to Corporal Brent Kelly the driver of the vehicle was traveling north on US 15 in a 1999 Dodge Truck around 4pm when a vehicle in front of the truck slowed to make a left turn on to a roadway. The driver of the truck swerved to avoid hitting the vehicle and ran off the right side of the road. Kelly says the truck struck a ditch and overturned.
Philip Taylor Jr. was pronounced dead on the scene, according to Coroner Hardee.
Officials say a juvenile was also riding in the vehicle. Both the juvenile and the driver were taken to Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. All three passengers were wearing their seat belts.
