Fire Chief: 10 Boy Scouts Taken To Hospital After Van Crashes

Glassy Mountain Fire Chief Bryan Riebe says 10 Boy Scouts were taken to the hospital after the Ford van they were traveling in overturned late Friday night.

According to fire department officials, the accident happened around 10:00 p.m. on Callahan Mountain Road in Greenville.

Riebe says the van was leaving Camp Old Indian and traveling to another camp area, when the van ran off the road, down an embankment and landed overturned in a river.

Authorities say 10 campers and 1 counselor were taken to Greenville Memorial.

There is no word on their conditions.
