Deputies: Police Officer Threatens To Shoot Wife In Foot

Sumter, SC (WLTX)  The Sumter County Sheriff's office have arrested St. George Police officer Richard Newman Sr, 27 on a charge of criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.

According to the warrants, on July 12 Newman pulled out his  service weapon while dressed in his police uniform and told his wife, "I'm going to shoot you in the foot".  The two were having an argument.

Again on July 17, deputies say Newman pointed his service weapon at his wife and said again during an argument, "I'm going to shoot you."

Newman turned himself into the Sumter Law Enforcement Center and was transported to the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention center.
