Lexington County, SC (WLTX) -- Two people have been arrested in connection with a fatal hit and run Monday afternoon in Lexington County.
Sheldon Dubois, 20 from Cayce was charged with reckless homicide, leaving the scene that involves death and driving under suspension. The passenger, a 17 year-old male, was charged with leaving a scene that involves death. A third person was also charged--32-year-old Sharon Ellsworth of Gaston--with allowing an unauthorized person to drive.
According to Trooper Brent Kelly, Dubois was driving South on Hwy 302 when he crossed the center line and struck a Ford pickup, the driver of the truck was killed. Dubois also, according to Kelly, struck a postal mail truck and a Ford Thunderbird.
The person killed was later identified as 64-year-old Ronald W. Mitchell of Lexington.
The driver of the mail truck was transported to Lexington Medical and the passenger (one of three people in the Thunderbird) was also transferred to Lexington Medical.
The collision took place around 3 p.m. on Highway 302 at the entrance of the Columbia Metropolitan Airport.
After the collision, Dubois and his 17 year-old passenger ran from the scene, according to deputies. They were arrested around 6:30 p.m. at the Carolina Lodge Apartments just down the road from the crash site.
Traffic was slowed in the area for almost two hours while emergency crews responded to the incident.
