Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Due to a water main break at 109 Briarcliffe East, the City of Columbia has issued a Boil Water Advisory for the neighborhood.
Residents in the Briarcliffe Subdivision near 109 Briarcliffe East, Viewmont Road, and Ringwood Lane are are advised they should boil their water for at least 1 minute prior to drinking or cooking with their tap water.
A water main break at the address above could possibly result in a bacterial contamination of the tap water, so, along with boiling water prior to drinking or cooking, the City also suggests not using any ice made from the water that was not boiled first.
The City of Columbia is working to correct the problem, and will send a notice to media outlets when this Boil Water Advisory is lifted.
