Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The City of Columbia's Parks and Recreation Department Friday announced a week-long closure of the north entrance to the Riverfront Park and Greenway due to the construction on Broad River Road. 

The closure is set to begin Monday, August 6th, and is expected to remain closed through Monday, August 13th. 

The reconstruction of the Broad River Bridge and roadway are changing the levels of the roadway, and the entrance to the park needs to be reconstructed to raise it to the level of the new asphalt being laid. 

During the closure period, outdoor enthusiasts are encourage to use the Laurel Street park entrance, until construction is complete.
