Sumter County, SC (WLTX) -- The Continental Tire Plant in Sumter is closer to being on line, which means they are looking to start hiring.
The company gave a site tour to reporters and released information on how you could become part of the team.
"We're ahead of schedule and so far so good," said Project Manager Craig Baartman, of the 330 acre stretch of land.
He believe the facility will become a major part of Sumter County's economy.
"We believe this is a game changer for Sumter," he said.
That has already started for some. The company currently has between 50 to 75 construction workers preparing the site off Highway 521.
Continental announced it will hire about 60 people this year and that process is already underway with its first job postings now available online.

The company is working with readySC and Central Carolina Technical College to help recruit and train those interested in positions.
Baartman says a they will need a wide range of skills to cover numerous positions, and they want to hire locally.
"Part of the site selection process and us locating in Sumter was because of the resources and the people in this area, that can assist us with recruitment and there are competencies and skills with in this region," he said.
Baartman says the also considered the plant's location in selecting the site. He says they don't expect any traffic to come along with the plant, but says you will likely see declaration lanes and a traffic light for safety.
A few years down the line the site could look to do more with the rail line that sits close to the property, but before that can come around, he says the company is looking to find a few good men and women to help get the plant rolling.
"For those folk out there that are wanting a career and wanting to move on in life, this is a golden opportunity," said Baartman.
