Columbia, SC (WLTX)- Richland County Deputies say a burglary occurred around 3am Friday morning at Palmetto Firearms on Broad River Road.
But burglars didn't break in through a window or door.
"They created a hole big enough for individuals to climb through," said Richland County Deputy Curtis Wilson.
An employee tells News19 the suspects went to the back of the business and used a sledge hammer to break through the concrete wall.
According to deputies, three bullet proof vests, three sizing vests, display police badges and a badge wallet case were taken from the business.
"There have been quite a few break ins at firearm businesses around town. In this instant we are fortunate enough that no firearms were taken," said Wilson.
Deputies say citizens should check police badges with matching credentials if presented by an individual.
"If you have any concerns as to if the person is an officer, ask for their credentials, every officer is going to have a photo ID and the signature of that agency."
Deputies are still looking for the suspects involved in this burglary. Persons with any leading information may receive up to $1000.
