Recall On Athena Cantaloupes Sold At Reid's And Food Lion

Columbia, SC (WLTX) Athena cantaloupes sold at Reid's and Food Lions in South Carolina are being recalled because they may contain listeria monocytogenes. 

No confirmed illnesses have been associated with the recall and all the Athena cantaloupes have been removed from stores.

If you have recently purchased a cantaloupe from either store, check for a sticker that will reference Burch Farm and read "Cantaloupe PLU 4319".

Athena cantaloupes area variety grown in the Southeastern United States. 

The recall affects 463 Food Lion Stores, 129 in South Carolina.  All 11 Reid's locations in South Carolina are included.

Customers who may have purchases these cantaloupes are urged to dispose of them and return the sticker to their local Food Lion or Reid's stores for a full refund.
