Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatality resulting from an early morning accident, Saturday.
A 45-year-old Columbia woman was hit on Two Notch Road, near Daulton Road, early Saturday morning. A 45-year-old Columbia man was driving a Dodge pick-up truck and could not avoid the woman who was walking in the roadway.
She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt at the time; he is not facing any charges and speed has been ruled out as contributing to the accident.
The SCHP is still investigating the incident.
