Marion County, FL (WKMG) - Police in Florida say a woman said the reason she led them on a chase was because she was topless.

Mandy Ramsey was arrested early Saturday morning by Marion County, Florida law enforcement. Deputies say they clocked her speeding, doing 71 in a 55 on Highway 315.

When deputies tried to pull her over,  they say she sped off, running through a stop sign, going through a lawn and hitting a tree before escaping. Using a helicopter, though, deputies traced the car Ramsey was driving back to a home.

When they knocked on the door ramsey blurted out that she didn't stop because she was topless.

Ramsey was booked into jail on fleeing and eluding charges. Deputies say if Ramsey would have just pulled over she probably would only be facing misdemeanor indecent exposure charges and a speeding ticket. Because she didn't, she now faces felony charges.

When a local tv station went to her home, Ramsey didn't answer. But a man identifying himself as her boyfriend, James Woodward, did. He told the reporter, "she did something stupid trying to impress me, that's all it was."
