MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) - The Carrier Classic is coming to South Carolina, and there's a possibility it's the first of several visits to the state.

Organizers on Tuesday outlined plans to transform the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown on Charleston Harbor into a basketball arena.

The first Carrier Classic was held in San Diego last year and President Barack Obama attended. Morale Entertainment Foundation founder Mike Whalen the president has again been invited.

Whalen says that, depending on how this year's event goes, the classic could come back in subsequent years as part of a pre-season tournament where games are all played on aircraft carriers.

This year's event is scheduled for Nov. 9. The Ohio State women face 2012 national runner-up Notre Dame, followed by the Ohio State men playing Marquette.
