Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A service outage that was affecting Verizon Wireless customers in the Midlands is over.
Around 2 p.m. Friday, customers begin noticing difficulty making calls from their cell phones. The outage only affected voice communication.
Verizon issued a statement during the outage saying they were "working dilligently to resolve it [the problem].
It's unclear at this point what was the source of the problem. The Newberry County Sheriff's Office sent an alert to people saying that people using the service weren't able to call 911.
