CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A Mount Pleasant couple has pleaded guilty to homicide by child neglect in the starvation death of their 9-month-old son.

Charles Lewis Gordon IV and his wife Ashley entered the pleas in Charleston on Tuesday. They will be sentenced Thursday. The charge carries a sentence of 20 years to life in prison.

Authorities say the couple's son Andrew was found starved to death in their home two years ago. He was unresponsive in his crib in a room littered with bottles, soiled clothes and old food.

The child weighed just 6 pounds and 9 ounces - almost 2 pounds less than when he was born.
