Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia Police Officers say they have arrested a man accused of assaulting a woman Wednesday afternoon.
The victim told Columbia Police that she was walking on Tree Street when 22-year-old Alexander Jones tried to force himself on her.
Chief Randy Scott says a man heard the the victim screaming and witnessed the incident.
Columbia Police were able to arrest Jones near Forest Drive after he attempted to flee the scene.
The victim has been seem by medical staff at a local hospital.
Jones is charged with Third Degree Assault with Intent to Commit Criminal Sexual Conduct.
