Coroner Identifies Victims in Lexington County Car Wreck

Lexington, SC (WLTX) -- The Lexington County Coroner has identified the two victims who died in a fatal car wreck that occurred at the intersection of Neely Wingard Road and Highway 178 in Lexington.

Coroner Harry Harman reports the driver of a 1993 Lexus, 38-year-old Donald Burton of Batesburg-Leesville was pronounced dead on the scene. A passenger in the vehicle, 17 year-old Tyler Brown of Gilbert was transported to Palmetto Health Richland where he was later pronounced dead.

Troopers say the accident occurred around 9:50pm Saturday evening.

According to officials, Donald Burton was traveling west on Neely Wingard Road. As he approached Highway 178 Burton disregarded the stop sign and was struck by a 2000 Sterling Truck traveling on Highway 178.

Officials say a third passenger in the Lexus was transported to Palmetto Richland where he was treated and released. The driver of the truck was not injured.

All occupants of both vehicles were wearing their seatbelts.
