Crews search Lake Murray on August 19, 2012 for missing swimmer Christopher Riddle.
Richland County, SC (WLTX) - The name of the teenage boy who died on Lake Murray Sunday has been released.
Coroner Gary Watts says 18-year-old Christopher J. Riddle died while swimming with friends at a church outing Sunday afternoon.
Watts says the Riddle was about 20 feet from a dock on the lake when he went under and did not resurface.
Rescue crews responded to the scene and recovered his body around 7:30 p.m.
Watts says an autopsy showed no signs of trauma on Riddle's body, so it's not clear why he went under. Riddle could swim, Watts adds, and was not wearing a life jacket.
