(USA TODAY) - CBS has unveiled 15 of the 18 castaways who will compete on Survivor: Philippines.
And two of them are stars -- Lisa Whelchel, 49, who used to be on The Facts of Life, and former San Francisco Giants baseball player Jeff Kent, 44.
Whelchel is best known for playing the wealthy Blair Warner on the 1980s sitcom. She now has three children and is a Christian author and speaker.
She writes on her website that filming the show wasn't exactly fun. "I don't think 'fun' is the word I would use to describe my experience. Those days on the island were the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. It pushed me to my extreme limits physically, mentally, spiritually, and especially, emotionally. I'm so very grateful for the opportunity and I'm so glad I did it, but I think it's like childbirth...I may need to put a few years behind me and some perspective in front of me before I would ever consider doing it again."
Three of the competitors, to be revealed later this week, are former players who were medically evacuated from the game and are getting a chance to return. For the first time in eight years, CBS says this Survivor shows ill be comprised of three tribes named after animals in the region -- Kalabaw ("Water Buffalo"), Tandang ("Rooster") and Matsing ("Monkey").
The series will return for its 25th season with a 90-minute edition on Sept. 19 (8-9:30 p.m. ET/PT) on CBS/WLTX.
