Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The search for missing Columbia teen Gabbiee Swainson has shed light on the case of another missing person, Adriana Laster, whose family members reported her missing about a year ago.
"When I first met him he seemed like a guy that would really help my sister out and be there for her, so I didn't see anything wrong with him at first," said Laster's sister, Jessica Gunn.
Sisters describe Laster as a friendly person who loved music and art.
Gunn says she met Freddie Grant the man involved in a relationship with her sister and thought he seemed okay, if not a bit too old for her sister who was 28-years-old when she disappeared last September.
"She would take her daughter to the dollar store to get her something she was always around for her birthday. She always call she was always around so that's when we knew something was really wrong," said Gunn.
She says she also knew something was wrong with her sister's relationship with Grant. Gunn says Laster told her about being abused and claims to have witnessed it herself when she says Grant knocked her sister out on a road trip, but Adriana wanted to handle things herself.
"We were in the middle of no where driving so when we got to where we were going we asked Driana if she wanted to go with us, and she begged us not to press charges and not to say nothing and that it was alright, it was her relationship, she'll deal with it, so she refused to come with us," she recalled.
"She was scared of him," Gunn says. According to her, when Laster tried to leave, Grant would always find her. She says Grant would even contact family members looking for Adriana.
"He's just all around a bad guy," said Gunn.
Now about a year later, they are just looking for any sort of clue or information about Adriana.
"Somebody just tell us something, we don't care what it is, even if it's just we found some DNA, we just wanna know something. We don't wanna, you know, we don't just be in our hearts that we never know what happened," said Gunn.
She says FBI contacted some family members, but would not give them any new information.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott is expected to give an update on the Gabbiee Swainson case at an 11 a.m. news conference on Thursday.
