Newberry, SC (WLTX) - One man is dead and an officer in the hospital after a shooting early Thursday morning in Newberry.
Accoriding to the Newberry Police Department, two officers responded to a domestic disturbance on Fulmer Avenue shortly before midnight. As the officers approached the door, the person inside opened fire striking one of the officers in the arm. He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
Officers from several agencies converged on the house and State Law Enforcement Division officers tried to convince the person inside to exit. According to authorities, around 3 am a SLED robot went inside the house and found the suspect dead from an apparent self inflicted gun shot wound.
The Newberry County Coroner's office later identified the man as 30-year-old William Blair Frazier.
As they always do in officer-involved shootings, SLED is investigating the incident.
